The Twenty-07 Study was set up in 1986 in order to investigate the reasons for differences in health by socio-economic circumstances, gender, area of residence, age, ethnic group, and family type.
The study consists of three cohorts born twenty years apart and each followed up for twenty years.

Not living in the study area, not in the community, not being one of the appropriate ages, and not being randomly selected. ee Benzeval M, Der G, Ellaway A, Hunt K, Sweeting H, West P, Macintyre S. Cohort Profile: West of Scotland 20-07 study: health in the community. International Journal of Epidemiology 2009; 38:1215-23. At most waves, respondents with (say) severe dementia and those living in institutions would not have been interviewed. At the final wave in 2007/2008, some respondents with dementia were given a shortened or proxy interview and some in institutions were interviewed.

No, although details such as severity and medications were asked of any medical conditions reported.
At each wave of the study there were questions on medical conditions. Also, respondents are flagged for mortality with the NHSCR so we have cause of death for those who have died.
