As the foremost global research initiative on Neurodegenerative Disorders, JPND is dedicated to supporting innovative and ambitious projects that require coordinated investment at a multinational level. To enhance the impact of projects at the European level, JPND strongly encourages researchers to engage the European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) early in their proposals.
A European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) is a specific legal entity created to facilitate the establishment and operation of Research Infrastructures in Europe. ERICs are essential for conducting ambitious and international research projects, significantly contributing to scientific and technological advances in various research fields. Since 2011, 26 ERICs have been established.
The strategy for policymaking on research infrastructures and the facilitation of multinational initiatives for developing research infrastructures in Europe are guided by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI). From molecular-scale imaging to large-scale social science studies across Europe, ERICs can contribute in numerous ways and across various research fields to significantly enhance the impact of JPND-funded projects. JPND strongly encourages applicants to consider involving ERICs in their projects. BBMRI (Biobanking and Biomolecular resources Research Infrastructure) is a European research infrastructure dedicated to biobanking. With 20 member countries and 3 observer countries in Europe, BBMRI directory currently lists over 1400 collections throughout Europe. BBMRI not only helps locate and access biological samples, but also offers quality management services, support with ethical and legal issues related to the collection and use of biological samples.

CERIC (Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium) is a European research infrastructure that provides access to advanced analytical facilities in the fields of materials, biomaterials and nanotechnology. With 8 affiliated facilities in Europe, CERIC offers access to multiple techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, lasers, X-ray, and many more.

CESSDA (Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives) is a European research infrastructure dedicated to foster research in social sciences by expanding access to data and metadata. With 21 member countries and 1 observer, CESSDA provide access to tools and resources including more that 40 000 data collections from social sciences studies. CESSDA also provides training for data handling and management.

CLARIN (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) is a European research Infrastructure that provides access to a broad range of language data (both written and spoken), tools and resource families. As an example of available resource relevant to JPND, CLARIN has set up the DementiaBank, a shared database for the study of communication in dementia (https://dementia.talkbank.org/).

EATRIS is a European research infrastructure for translational medicine focusing on preclinical and early clinical development. With over 150 affiliated academic centers across Europe, EATRIS provides many services such as access to preclinical and clinical expertise, facilities, mentoring, promotions of academic-industry collaborations, regulatory services, technology and translational feasibility assessments.

EBRAINS is a digital research infrastructure with 24 distributed facilities in Europe. Fully dedicated to neuroscience, EBRAINS aims at accelerating collaborative brain research with a comprehensive package of data, tools and facilities. ECRIN is the European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network that supports the implementation of multinational clinical trials in Europe. Present in 12 member countries and 1 observer country, ECRIN provides services for planning, risk assessment and operational coordination and management of clinical trials. EU-OPENSCREEN is a European research infrastructure for chemical biology and early drug discovery. EU-OPENSCREEN operates a unique European chemical biology library with 100,000 compounds. With over 20 facilities located in 10 European countries, EU-OPENSCREEN offers multiple services such as high-throughput screening, in silico profiling, bioprofiling, hit selection, optimisation and confirmatory screenings.

SHARE is a European research Infrastructure for the survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe. With a network of teams in 28 countries, SHARE is a large social science panel study with the aim to improve the quality of lives of peoples in Europe. SHARE has built a unique cross-national, comparable over time and multidisciplinary database from persons aged 50 years and over who are interviewed every two years. As an example, relevant to JPND, SHARE data has revealed how lifestyle influences the onset of dementia.
