{"id":6509,"date":"2016-11-15T08:35:19","date_gmt":"2016-11-15T08:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.neurodegenerationresearch.eu\/?p=6509"},"modified":"2016-11-15T08:35:19","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T08:35:19","slug":"joint-transnational-call-for-research-proposals-pre-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/neurodegenerationresearch.eu\/cs\/2016\/11\/joint-transnational-call-for-research-proposals-pre-announcement\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Transnational Call for Research Proposals \u2013 Pre-announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The EU Joint Programme \u2013 Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) will\u00a0shortly launch a call for <strong>&#8222;Multinational Research Projects for Pathway Analysis across Neurodegenerative Diseases&#8220;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is clinical, genetic and biochemical evidence that similar molecular pathways are relevant in different neurodegenerative and other chronic diseases. Therefore, JPND will launch a call for multidisciplinary proposals to perform network analyses across such diseases and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms involved. Research proposals may:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>combine experimental approaches from fundamental, pre-clinical and\/or clinical research<\/li>\n<li>perform network analyses in different neurodegenerative and\/or other chronic diseases to elucidate the underlying common and differing mechanisms in the investigated diseases<\/li>\n<li>add value to existing research by analysing diseases across traditional clinical boundaries, technologies and disciplines, thereby gaining deeper understanding of the patho-physiological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following neurodegenerative diseases are included in the call:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias<\/li>\n<li>Parkinson\u2019s disease and PD\u2010related disorders<\/li>\n<li>Prion diseases<\/li>\n<li>Motor neuron diseases<\/li>\n<li>Huntington\u2019s disease<\/li>\n<li>Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA)<\/li>\n<li>Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cross-disease analysis may solely comprise different neurodegenerative diseases or include other chronic diseases (e.g. chronic mental or physical disorders). Up to six research groups from at least three different countries may collaborate within a consortium.<\/p>\n<p>This will be a two-step call, expected to be launched in early January 2017, with a likely pre-proposal submission\u00a0deadline in March 2017.
