Third Country Participation in JPND

JPND was established by and is currently governed by EU Member States and Associated Countries.

The JPND partner countries recognise that the unmet clinical need and societal impact of ND is a global issue, and that opportunities exist to link to worldwide research efforts in this area.

The policy document below sets out JPND’s approach to working with non-EU Member states/Associated countries, i.e. Third Countries.

As of December 2015, the Third Country membership of JPND is composed of:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Switzerland

In 2012, Canada was accepted as the first Third Country member of JPND. In accordance with JPND policy, Canada became a full member in 2014.

On November 9th, 2012, a conference took place to discuss USA accession to JPND. More information on the conference is available here or on the link on the left-hand side of this page.
