General Information
Mouse: CB576J x 129/SvJ
Conditional expression of the human C-terminally truncated (1-119) E46K mutant alpha-synuclein protein under the control of the endogenous ROSA 26 promoter in a Cre recombinase -dependent manner. Breeding with TH-Cre transgenic mice allows selective expression of the transgene in dopaminergic neurons.
Endogenous mouse alpha synuclein: Yes.
Corresponding human genotype: E46K mutation is responsible for a rare autosomal dominant familial form of PD. Truncated forms of alpha-synuclein are detected in brain tissue from post mortem PD brain and are enriched in Lewy bodies
Transgene insertion: ROSA 26 locus
