Since January 18, 2006 CIEN Foundation also runs the Research Unit Project Alzheimer’s Disease (UIPA), through an agreement with Queen Sofia Foundation, which transfers UIPA’S management to the CIEN Foundation. UIPA has 4 departments: 1) The Multidisciplinary Support Unit (UMA), composed of specialists in neurology, psychiatry, sociology, neuropsychology and members of the CAFRS Welfare Area (specialists in geriatrics, psychology, physical therapy and occupational therapy), 2) The Laboratory Department, 3) The Neuropathology, and 4) The Neuroimaging Department, equipped with a 3 Tesla MRI.
