    Research Abstract

This research project seeks to define the function and diagnostic utility of newly discovered genetic risk factors for common Alzheimer’s disease. To do so, we plan to use genetic and cell biology tools as well as animal models to carefully examine the function of these genes in the intact and diseased brain. We hope to demonstrate the importance and practical utility of these novel bio-markers for both, the early diagnostic and successful treatment of this terrible form of dementia that affect more than half a million Canadians today.
