    Research Abstract

The overall goal of this program is to explore novel ways to target key pathological mechanisms in AD by direct central nervous system (CNS) targeting regenerative growth
factor signaling, using both local delivery of the two growth factors NGF and BDNF as well as small-molecule allosteric modulators of growth factor signaling aiming at improving
cognitive function. Leveraging the functional selectivity of allosteric modulators of NGF and BDNF provides a potential opportunity to develop agents that selectively target NGF and
BDNF signaling pathways and transportation. The concept will be investigated by cell and animal models. The project brings together a multidisciplinary team of scientists from different disciplines and the necessary resources and models to move novel findings towards clinical translation.
