JPND SYMPOSIUM 2022
Young scientists presented their posters to an evaluation committee during the symposium. Each short presentation provided a synthetic overview of the scientific hypothesis and the aims of the project, a concise description of the methods implemented as well as the results obtained. Organised by the JPND beneficiary, INSERM, the assessment panel of the posters comprised three evaluation sub-committees. The presenters of the best poster per call were awarded with a prize of €500 each at the end of the symposium.
JPND asked each of the three poster prize award winners how they have benefitted attending the JPND/JPcofuND 2 Symposium.
What have you gained from attending the JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium?
JT: The JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium was the first international conference I was able to attend during my PhD. It was truly inspiring to see how Europe-wide and interdisciplinary collaboration in science was exemplified during this symposium. Since our work focuses on disease progression at the molecular level, it was fascinating to see how mechanistic understanding of disease is going to shape the treatment of patients someday.

What have you gained from attending the JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium?
MvM: The JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium was the first in-person event for me due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I was impressed by the diversity of expertise and research projects that were present at the symposium. The organisation of the event offered many opportunities for the exchange of ideas with other participants. I was particularly excited that patients were present and asked great questions about posters or lectures. As a young scientist, the symposium was a great platform to present my research and our project iCARE-PD. I also benefitted from the input from other research projects and participants for my own research.

What have you gained from attending the JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium?
PMA: As a young scientist working in neurodegeneration, attending the JPND/JPcofuND 2 symposium was a unique opportunity for me. I learnt about the JPND structure, JPND funding opportunities, other ongoing neurodegeneration projects, and I could also expand my collaboration network.
